The aim of the festival is to raise much needed funds for Cattistock Cricket Club, Maiden Newton & Cattistock Football Club, Savill Hall and the Community Playspace and other local organisations and services.

Beside Knob Throwing there will be additional fun knob attractions including Knob Eating, Knob Painting, a Knob & Spoon Race, Guess the weight of the Big Knob, Knob Darts and a Knob Pyramid and other more traditional entertainment will be laid on to make this a really enjoyable day out with a difference.

What a great fete week of events we had, culminating in the fete itself on Sunday 16th July which was great fun and a huge success, an afternoon for all the family. A tremendous effort by all concerned made this year's Village Fete another year to remember. Through the generosity of the villagers and visitors alike, we managed to raise just shy of £5000, a fantastic result that will benefit our village in the coming year. We will be donating £3500 to the Cattistock Community Fund and we will again fund a special project for the village, yet to be confirmed, as we did in 2016 when we set up the village library, which has also been a great success, please everyone continue to use it.

There is a nucleus of people that make the fete happen every year, but as each year evolves we need more help. We are currently looking for a couple of volunteers to join the fete committee, new blood with some fresh ideas, we need to move with the times as well as maintaining tradition.

Next year’s Fete date for your diary is 15th July 2018

What a fabulous weekend!  The weather was wonderful and we had the most tremendous feedback from visitors about Cattistock and its people.   Absolutely no negative comments this year and such good fun.  We had 28 amazing gardens open , wonderful activities up at the Hunt Kennels, beautiful (and witty) flower displays in the Church – and, of course, fantastic teas.  The Fox and Hounds had a ‘meal deal’ and both the Village Shop and Tea Room remained open throughout the weekend; so a real village effort.  Thanks to everyone involved (and there were so many!!) we raised in the region of £2,500 – money still coming in from a variety of sources so we don’t have the final figure at time of going to press.  So the Church Fabric Fund and the Cattistock Community Fund will each receive £1,250.

Nestled in Dorset's rolling hills, this is probably the prettiest traditional country show you could hope for. We might be small in size but we are big on character and warm welcomes. We are about horse, dog, flower & produce competitions and you are set to have the most fun a family can have in a field with wanging a wellie, riding a donkey, splatting a rat, firing an arrow, shooting a gun, casting a fly - we are rich in so many country pastimes.

It was our best yet, with more fun packed in than ever with a great turn out and a fantastic atmosphere.
